Housing and Residential Life

Guest and Common Space Policy

Spring 2021 Guest and Common Space Policy

By integrating a staged system to allow residents to have guests and utilize common spaces, our goal in Housing and Residence Life is to grant our residents increasing in-person social activities throughout the semester.  Through this progress we hope to allow students to strengthen Coug community ties and build their social network in a manner that is safe and adaptable to State and Federal Government COVID-19 regulations and guidelines. Given the current ongoing pandemic, we believe that implementing a stage system will allow our policies to adapt to the ever-changing pandemic and spread and infection rates in Pullman.

All stage progressions or regressions will be at the advisement of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). If COVID positive rates increase within the residence hall system, the residence hall system may either remain at its current stage for longer or move backwards in stages depending on EH&S recommendations.

The Guest and Common Space Policy is currently in Stage 2. Details are below.

Please note that the state of Washington is in Phase 1 of its Healthy Washington – Roadmap to Recovery plan. Cougs can find out what this means for spaces and behaviors on campus here.

Attestation Completion of WSU attestation is required when leaving your room at any time.
Special Considerations    If you spend more than 15 minutes with someone in the same room, either all at once or cumulatively over a 24-hour period, you will be considered a “close contact” by the CDC and EH&S. This means if either of you become ill the other may be required to isolate/quarantine for a period as determined by health officials. Be selective with who you invite into your space.
